Addiction – By suliman amoako (cousin)

Chapter 1

It all goes back to the kids

Promises turned fibs.

Holidays away, no way.

Tried to a waitress,chef, a cleaner. Hopeless

Its all in vain. “When am gone all I’ll be to dem is a name”

Theres another option

he tells her to mix this is wid her shopping

Promises a load of Gs, if she carries this overseas,

No more worries, no more sorries

Choice.

This way or that, forward or back? Left or right, fall or flight?

Red pill?

Blue pill?

Chapter 2

No more tears, now jus smiles and cheers.

Living larger than abdi

Money comes and goes like acne.

Bought the kids a new computer

Flying from state to state, country to country,

Disappears for weeks on end, then is back again

Tells the kids shes handling business

exchanges parcels and carrys goods when theres no one 2 witness

Plans on buying everybody sumthing for Christmas.

But time is expiring, almost time for retiring

“Its not good” she tells herself

But that doesn’t help

Continues.

It gets harder.

Calls get closer

Goes to one terminal and the guy knows her.

Not oblivious, to the fact that her face is becoming obivious

Enuff money now

She thinks “Frick this”

“One last time. Everbody’s getting something for Christmis”

Chapter 3

Usual routine.

Package secure.

Arrives on time, joins the line.

No strain, no stress.

No trouble, its bless.

Gets on the plane “I’m never doing this again”

“6 hours left till it ends. Amen.

6 hours later.

Gets off straight no hesitation

Doesn’t waste time in immigration.

Off to customs, finally reaches the counter

Then theres a pause

“I’ve seen u before”

Holds her breath.

Heart jumps as he tries to name her

“Yer, that’s it….……………..Gloria Ganor!”

Relief.

Walks. In the distance she sees the exut.

“This is it”

“Hey!!!!”

This time she turns around and feels it in instinct.

He asks to search her bag and their reactions are nsync.

She runs, sprinting and sweating

thinking,regretting

She runs like a soldier

He screams for them to “Hold her”

Tries to run faster “Jus fot the kids”

Runs into a loaded cart n she trips

Epilogue

Shes serving 12 years.

All the kids shed tears

Last time they saw her she was hospitalised

Reverted back to her old self a lot of lies.

Promises it was a mistake, she didn know

“Its all in vain, all they’ll remember is her name”

Broken.

Promises turned to fibs,

Holidays away, no way

U no whats worst

It all goes back to the kids.
