Part 2. A year in review
someone has a shirt of this! muhahahah! Well lets see... taking things in perspective, I technically knew you guys during the month of September, when I dropped into scotts flat for the first time. However, the only people I met there were Warren, Scott, and Adam, and hence had did not really know the rest of you well. As such, to be really truthful, the first ever intergation of the token guy into your erather insane and childish society was in March, at the Carivale meet.
To be honest, I wasn’t really looking forward to turning up to it, not because I was afraid or anything.. but.. well.. I had never seen that many ‘batty’ people in a single place at a time. Bear with me here, but I really am very shy and concious about what people think about me, and as such I had never done clubs or bars or house parties and stuff like that. It wasn’t my style.
But I felt I owed it to scott to arrive not becauseh he asked nicely, nor that I had sworn to come because I missed the last few by forgetting they were happening. But because, well, you guys seemed nice. And I had promised that this year I would do something I had been too afraid to do by myself. Plus I had the day off. So hey, whats the worse that could happen!
So marked the intergration of the token black guy into the freakcity ‘posse’ (if you chose to call it that) Carnivale was the first real Big event I attended, so for me marks the first true FC event for me of the year.
April brought my first ever TV performance (with any luck, not the last) on the Morning Show on Channel 4, playing everyone’s favourite pasttime game: Dungeons & Dragons. Greaaaaaaat. And so that is how my dark secret was slowly revealed to my family, as to what I do when I’m not at home. I have one hell of a gossiping family I can tell ya that: my great grandmother living in Ghana heard it too!
The month of April and transistion of May came with the first ever (yes, first ever, because the ones before don’t count) Freakcity camping trip of Below freezing temperatures(tm)! Yes, scott bingowings alamac bromleyben thedude nikki and steve found ourselves in the wonderful world of Stiffkey, Norwich, where we camped outselves out of our minds for 5 days straight. It was the first real FC trip for me, but as I had never gone camping before, and actually had that weekend free, among other factors I was slightly scared whatever the heck you people got to when camping and wanted to see what it was all about. And I wasn’t disappointed! I had a FUN time (despite the cold) and would definitely want to do it again! Whohoo!
May itself was a jam packed month on its own! It was insane! First there was a picnic with OUTers at bromely by bow behind the tescos (I made a glamourious appearance– as usual). It was closely followed by the Freakcity/OUT Star Wars III outing at the barbican (both things organised by mr photographer) The show itself wasn’t really up to par, but I bared with it as much as I could.
I finally had a chance to see the fabled Retro Bar, when thedude and steve took me there, then Popstarz. I haven’t looked back since. Its a great bar (OJ is still expensive though, so maybe not THAT great. Blah.) Popstarz itself was a bit odd – like I said, I don’t do clubs much – but it was funny to watch Dom get drooled over by young chavs...
My birthday went like all of my other birthdays... badly. Everyone I knew were busy doing something that day (naturally), the curry event had a very low turn out.. and Grilak, an online friend from my RP days, died from a heart attack. I had expected it to go that badly (naturally) but not as bad as I saw it. I’m not sure if I did my best to hide my sadness, but then again, I couldn’t, because like every birthday I have every had, there’s always been one thing that makes it all wort
Random Thought: That was the second easy bit...
