Freakcity

Well – that was fun 😊

Friday+ night I was feeling pretty crappy – Stuff with Dan and lack of sleep mostly – chatted to Dom (entadaeastenda) by text on the way home, we both fancied doing something but couldn’t get a round tuit...besides, the District line was “delayed” so I had to wait half hour for a tube, and the Northern line was “severely delayed” so fuck only knows how long it’d have taken him to get to me...Decided as I wasn’t really in the right mood I’d just go home, so I missed anandamide's birthday and just went to bed.

Managed to get woken by Adam and bump cooking all the remaining burgers and Findus Crispy Pancakes (bastards!!) at fecking 6:30 am. So thought “fuck it” and got up. Spent much of +Saturday

fiddling with the new WLAN access point I’d bought from bigpockets.co.uk – new WEP key and mac address fixing makes it a little more secure. Can’t browse the local network by NetBIOS name any more though – not entirely sure why. I’ll either fiddle or give them all LMHOSTS files or something.

This meant I had a spare PCMCIA card for the adorable ickle libretto that I bought on eBay a while back. Took some doing, but got it all working under 98SE. Need to install network share bits, then I shall bung office 2k and interdev on it – and possibly PWS – then I’ll be able to write FreakCity on the tube 😁

Nikki (stikki) and Brian arrived at 7ish that evening. They were staying as they were flying to San Francisco early on Sunday morning and it made more sense for them to be here overnight than have to travel from Norwich at stupid o’clock in the morning. So they dumped thir stuff in the office and we and Adam buggered off to Brick Lane for a curry at some place Nikki knew.

It was basically the Indian equivalent of a greasy spoon – food was passable, tho a huge chunk of bone in my chicken curry didn’t impress me much. Rice was nice, and it was cheap. All finished in fair time and then walked off to Liverpool Street.

There was a chub crawl on that Saturday night – where random internet people from the chubbies website (I think) meet up for a pub crawl – I’d had promised Dom (entadaeastenda) that I’d try and make it there – knew they’d be moving on from 79CXR at around 8:30 so raced to TCR to meet them. Bumped into Owen and Des on the escalator and said hello. Zoomed off to Charing Cross Road. Gave Dom a big hug when we got there and chatted for about 10 mins until they all fucked off to the Admiral Duncan.

We went to try and find Owen and kee and people at Republic – but by the time we got there it was queued to fuck, so we decided not to bother. Bumped into Ade briefly outside, then ran away. Took the guys to the Coach and Horses instead as we fancied proper beer by this point. Then went home via Borders coz Nikki fancied a read on the plane.

She picked up “The Curious Tale of the Dog in the Nighttime” Which was talked about on 518 – I still haven’t read it, but she’s promised to give me it on her way back...so we got chatting about aspergers syndrome and autism...a few of the people she cares for have either one or the other...I told her I’d show her notdan's bits on Freakcity when we got in.

Sat on the DLR and I randomly bumped into Kaipa who I used to work with at Sourceree. And this only minutes after I’d been discussing the random meeting I’d had with João at Bank station. Synchronicity is a wonderful thing. Chatted with him a bit about stuff in general, apparently the company is still going (I made Freakcity after I was made redundant from Sourceree and got bored of Trisha...) and apparently it may have some new investors soon. Might drop Kumar a line in a bit and see how he is 😉

Got home, I showed Nikki snigfarp's bizarre snigfarp’s journal – tea obsession is a fabulous thing...also giggled at all the new Dick entries. Some of them are quite rude! You lot are dirrrrrty...

They were tired and it was about
