Firefly overdose.
Started the weekend early onFriday+ – left work (depressing – my stuff eventually built but then broke tremendously when I ran it) and I went to the pub with work people – then Retro – bumped into jamesbass and zzzp – David popped in too and I ended up in the Swan pissed on a Friday – which was nice as I’ve not done that in like forever. Bed (eventually) and then up earlyish to tidy bits. Bump was late coz he overslept – and Lloyd arrived with James and a big tattooed man from Australia. Who were both apparently at the Swan too but we didn’t see them.Gah. DLR train broked in Bank station. So stranded here in the surprisingly strong sun...bugger...
So Saturday was a tad hungover. mattnottm, abeneplacito and jamie_ all turned up too, got a phonecall from Dan, he popped over as well and I did pics of him. Warren decided he’d probably do Dan as he looked like he’d beat fuck outta him if he looked at him wrong. Did some piccies of Dan, caught up a bit, met Dan’s new landlord and did a couple of pics of him too. Watched much Firefly. Impressed with the electricity going off once an hour for a bit too. Very fun. Not.
Broke Novak a bit. Might unbreak it tonight. Gonna eat chicken and consider sorting more flat out I think...
Finished Firefly for the night at Ariel, watched some of Appleseed before I went to bed (before everyone else – I’m such a lightweight!).
Up before everyone on +Sunday
– tried desperately to remember how to get the Render extension to work correctly on X but failed (have since downloaded instructions :D) and tried to get the wireless card to work on linux too and failed (have since downloaded drivers :D)Can’t wait until I get the interwebnet back tomorrow (hopefully) – there’s a new KDE beta and I wanna play 😁 Plus all my puters are moping because they like the IP flowing through them...the wireless network just isn’t the same. Briefly considered whacking the IRC server on so everyone in the flat could sit in #freakcity but didn’t. Snigger.
Finished Firefly then walked to the cinema. Me, Teej, Bump and Lloyd are all that remained. Serenity was outstanding, even a second time around. And it played to a nearly full cinema, which isn’t bad for the UGC in the back of nowhere at 18:15 on a Sunday. I reallyreally hope the film does OK, then we’ll get more films. Am probably going to go to Genesis Cinema with David on Wednesday and watch it there cheap too – so if anyone’s up for it on Wednesday evening, 9pm, £3.80 (£2 concessions) let me know.
#1 movie in the UK. Highest gross per screen. #1 movie in Ireland too. Can’t stop the signal 😉
Back to mine and bed after sausage and some of Stargate the Director’s Cut – was feeling pretty crappy. Mum had phoned Saturday and told me Dee’s not so good. They found more cancer in her liver and so are putting her on drugs for life instead of chæmo – so am guessing she’s feeling pretty bad right now.
Swings and roundabouts. Six of one and half a dozen of the other. You strive for the good and all you see is the bad, whereas if you achieve balance you see both. Shit happens, but shit brings unexpected hope from the strangest quarters. Just have to watch out for it is all.
