I got a Jesus Phone
No, not an iPhone, a proper phone. Nexus One ❤️It’s really rather stunningly good. Mixed up with a custom kernel and Cyanogen’s mod ( at www.cyanogenmod.com ) so I have V8 running inside of webkit for the browser. Being me, I thought I’d test the hell out of it.
Sunspider results (quicker is better):
Nexus One: 10053.2ms
iPhone 3Gs: 15675.4ms
(N900 Fennec: 37931.8ms *snigger*)
Out of interest, IE8 running on a 2ghz core2duo laptop with 4gb ram gets 6416ms, so the Nexus One interprets JS pretty fast by comparison.
So I’m all smartphoned up. I also have an N900 that I’m currently playing with, Fennec was officially released yesterday and looks amazing on the N900 – youtube still works at 800x480 resolution and the flash plugin is great as well, you can watch videos in the page, just like you’re meant to be able to.
Maemo has apt and linuxy goodness. The package installer is way better than the Ovi store, but nowt can be done about that I guess as aptitude style package managers don’t really lend themselves to pay-for software.
Android 2.1 is pretty pretty too. Twitdroid, AndroidIRC, MeeboIM, Berlin City tubemap, Multitouch Pong, Light Racer 3D, the N1 Torch app, PixelPipe’s Flickr plugin and QuickDic German edition all get quite a lot of my time. Cyanogen has added in multitouch for the browser and is working on some other bits and bobs. 1ghz snapdragon CPU and 512mb system ram make it speedy as hell too.
Here’s a lil demo of the bits compared:

AMOLED Screens also rock. I want all of my screens for EVER to be AMOLED. AMOLED and transparent.
We launched my babbeh, it’s all going very well and is lovely and fast. Spent Christmas at Mum+Andy’s with Liam which was lovely. Ate far too much on Christmas day.
Berlin is full of snoes. It’s snowing sideways outside at the moment. Trust me to forget my hat on a day where the snow goes sideways. There’s SO much snow everywhere and half of the rivers are frozen and it’s beautiful. I suspect in a week I’ll be bored of it, but I’m going to stick around this weekend and do my best to take many shining photos of strikingly cold places. If it gets cold enough and the lakes in Potsdam freeze, I suspect it will be stunning.
Launched my photography persona onto facebook. Check it out! www.facebook.com/pages[...]otography/283464537960
